beauty mark . . . the eyes have it

Q:  I’m typically a Plain Jane when it comes to makeup, but this New Year’s Eve I want to spice it up without looking like I’m going through an identity crisis . . . could you give me some suggestions? ~Violet

So . . . when it comes to party makeup, don’t be afraid to try out new things! Here are some suggestions for going glam without losing your look in the process:

If you can maneuver false lashes, these will always be a big hit. Go for it!

Stay away from glitter makeup. It looks cheap and it takes you back to the 80s. (Unless it’s an 80s theme party or on your nails . . . besides, if you get glitter in your eyes, OUCH!)

I love metallics: gold, silver, and white metallic eye shadow are super-sexy. A pop of color like green or pink could be fun―just try to match your outfit. (Side note―if you have blue eyes, sometimes too much purple eyeshadow can make you look like you have a black eye―something to think about.)

The cat-eye look is great. This, paired with white eyeliner and some shimmer near your brow bone, would be super-sexy.
