street style . . . edge of urge

Iʼm not quite sure who to credit for the rebirth of impeccable style—Mad Men? Zooey Deschanel?—whoever is responsible, thank you!
Modern interpretations of vintage fashion is whatʼs hot. Pulling from prim-and-proper times, the latest looks to hit the racks are polished and pristine and are absolutely timeless. From cinched waists to modest tops and full skirts, these dresses fit most every woman, spotlighting your feminine shape in a flirty, quirky way.
The Sweet Valley Dress by Dear Creatures is the perfect example. The contrasting stripe of the v-neck sets off the dress with an eye-catching plunge. The alternating stripe of the skirt make your waist appear slim and cinched, but the back is how you’ll get the attention. The tiny bow detailed back and open criss-crossing straps show off your shoulders and collarbones—in my opinion, the sexiest body part.
The best thing about this style revival is the versatility of the pieces. Pair with dainty, vibrant flats for the day, and at night, stick with flats but go for some more daring colors—or, as you would expect from me, platforms!
My biggest bit of advice is simply don’t overdo it. Keep your accessories minimal and let the print and construction of the dress do all the work. Simply styled here with a top bun and a pair of pendulum earrings, there is no competition for attention, and a slight smile or smirk say all that needs to be said.
